About Dr. Grayman

For the curious, here is a little about me: I earned a B.A. from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, a M.A. in Counseling from New York University, and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from New York University. I have more than 20 years of clinical experience, and activated my Maryland license and boutique traumatic grief counseling practice in 2020. I am an independently licensed LCPC in the state (LC12281). I have maintained certifications as a grief professional and trauma professional since 2020, and added grief coaching to my practice in 2024.

Individuals who are grieving, but are not traumatically bereaved, may still benefit from support in the form of grief coaching. Here, the goal is to tend to the six needs of mourning as they are articulated by Alan Wolfelt: (1) Acknowledging the reality of the loss; (2) Embracing the pain of the loss; (3) Honoring the person who died; (4) Cultivating a new self identity and new traditions; (5) Searching for new meaning and understanding; and (6) Receiving ongoing support from others.
