Grieving is really, really hard work. But, the heart and the human spirit are RESILIENT..." Ashley Davis Bush
I discovered that grief can manifest in many forms: loss of a significant relationship (friendship or romantic); loss of a significant affiliation (e.g. religious or social); or the loss of employment or status. Throughout my life, I experienced loss in each of these forms and struggled to overcome feelings of anger, fear, resentment, sadness, and loneliness. I became STUCK by not recognizing my painful emotions as grief and holding onto the hurt for years, even decades.
My most significant loss was the loss of my mother over 10 years ago. I had the privilege of holding her hand as she took her final breath following a two-year fight with breast and bone cancer. For years, I buried the pain, not only of my mother’s passing, but also of unresolved issues following her death.
Becoming a professional coach allowed me to help others overcome struggles related to personal and professional development. But something was missing for me…a way to help people on a deeper level, to address those hurts that often underlie other problems.
address my unresolved grief, connect with others in their grief, and provide a
deeper level of service to my clients, I became a Certified From Grief to Gratitude
Coach. I am also a graduate of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Federal
Internal Coach Training Program and am a member of the Federal Coach Network
with over 90 hours of coaching experience.
